O Allah, the Restorer of the lost, and the Guide of the astray, guide me to my lost possession, and restore it to me by Your power and Your authority, for it is from Your grace and Your bestowal.
Allahumma raddaḍ-ḍāllati, wa hādīaḍ-ḍāllati, ihdinī ḍāllatī, wa rudd 'alayya ḍāllatī bi-qudratika wa sulṭānika, fa innahā min faḍlika wa 'aṭā'ika.
When to Read
This beautiful dua is particularly recommended for use on Friday, a day of immense blessings. While it can be recited anytime you lose something, the special merit of Friday makes it an opportune moment to seek Allah's help in finding what's lost. Think of it as a special supplication on a special day, when our prayers are often heard with greater favor.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and a clear heart. Focus on the meaning of the words – acknowledging Allah's power to restore and guide. It’s best to say it when you are calm and have a moment to reflect. Raising your hands slightly can be part of the supplication, as is customary when making dua. Keep seeking, and don't give up hope, remembering that Allah's decree is the ultimate outcome.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is, of course, the hope of recovering your lost item. More importantly, this dua is a powerful reminder of our constant need for Allah. It teaches us that even in the smallest of our concerns, like a misplaced object, we should turn to our Creator. It strengthens our reliance on Him (tawakkul) and reaffirms our belief that everything comes from His grace and His provision. Reciting it on Friday, a day when our duas are believed to be more readily accepted, adds another layer of potential blessing.

The man did so, and he found his riding-beast.
