اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.
*Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan*
When to Read
This dua is particularly beneficial to recite when you are sitting in the mosque, having arrived for Jumu'ah, and before the Imam begins the khutbah. It's a moment of transition where you are preparing yourself to listen attentively to the sermon and to seek blessings from Allah on this blessed day.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely with focus and presence of heart. Raise your hands gently, if you feel comfortable doing so, as is customary for asking Allah. Imagine the words leaving your heart and being carried to your Creator. The key is the sincerity and the intention behind the supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for a Muslim's well-being. Beneficial knowledge helps us understand our deen and live according to Allah's commands. Good provision ensures our sustenance is lawful and blessed, free from haram. Accepted deeds mean our worship and actions are pleasing to Allah, leading us to Jannah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a morning supplication, but its meaning makes it relevant for any time we seek Allah's favor, especially before a sermon that aims to remind and guide us.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'It is from my Sunnah, O people, that when you stand for prayer, straighten your rows, and when you begin the sermon, listen and remain silent. For whoever listens is the one who has the right of the Friday prayer. And whoever touches his brother (in the row) is not of my Ummah. And whoever orders them (the people) to sit down, there is no prayer for him. And whoever speaks, he has no prayer.' Then he said: 'O Allah, grant them knowledge of the Book, and bless them in their trade.' Then he said: 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.' He said this three times. Then he said: 'O Allah, forgive us, and forgive those who ask forgiveness for us from our parents and our children.' Then he said: 'O Allah, grant us refuge from the Fire, and from the Fire and from the Fire.'
