Dua When Afraid for Your Child's Safety

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَعِقَابِهِ، وَشَرِّ عِبَادِهِ، وَمِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ.

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the whisperings of devils and from their presence.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa 'iqabihi, wa sharri 'ibadihi, wa min hamazatis-shayateeni wa an yahdhurun.

When to Read

This dua is exceptionally potent when you feel a pang of worry or fear regarding your child's safety. It can be recited when they are venturing out, during times of perceived danger, or whenever your heart feels unsettled about their well-being. Make it a habit to recite it during the day and before sleep, seeking Allah's protection for them.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, directing your plea to Allah alone. Picture in your mind your child being enveloped in Allah's protective embrace. It's best recited after every prayer, or at least three times in the morning and evening, as taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for seeking Allah's protection.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) for seeking refuge for himself and his dependents. It is narrated that he would teach these words to his adult children, and for his younger children, he would write them on pieces of paper and have them tied around their necks.
