O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy upon me. And when You intend to put a people to trial, take me to Yourself without my falling prey to that trial. I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love.
Allahumma inni as'aluka fi'la khayratik, wa tark munakaratik, wa hubb al-masakin, wa an taghfir li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta fitnatan fi qawmin fa tawaffani ilayha ghayra muftatin, as'aluka hubbak, wa hubba man yuhibbuk, wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribuni ila hubbik.
When to Read
This dua is particularly beneficial when you feel overwhelmed by the potential for loss in your life, whether it's the fear of losing loved ones, health, wealth, or any other blessing. Recite it during times of anxiety, before sleep, or whenever you feel the weight of such fears pressing down on you.
How to Read
Raise your hands as you would during any supplication, face the Qiblah if possible, and recite with sincerity and conviction. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, asking Allah directly for His help in navigating your fears and strengthening your connection with Him. It's recommended to do this after Salah or at any quiet moment conducive to reflection and sincere pleading.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua asks Allah for several crucial things: the ability to do good and avoid evil, love for the less fortunate (a sign of a pure heart), forgiveness, mercy, and protection from trials. Most importantly, it seeks Allah's love, the love of those who love Him, and the love of actions that draw you closer to Him. Cultivating this love is a powerful shield against the anxieties of loss, as a heart filled with Allah's love finds solace and contentment regardless of worldly circumstances. As Allah says in the Quran: 'Those who believe and whose hearts find tranquility in the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, in the remembrance of Allah hearts find tranquility.' (Ar-Ra'd 13:28).

Yahya related to me from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Humayd ibn Abd ar-Rahman, from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf, that Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, supplicating: 'O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in the command, and I ask You for the resolve to follow what is right. I ask You for gratitude for Your blessing and for good worship. I ask You for a truthful tongue and a sound heart. I ask You for the best that You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know. I ask Your forgiveness for what You know, for You know what is hidden and what is apparent. You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, enable me to act upon Your commands, and abandon what You have forbidden, and love the poor. And I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And when You intend to try a people, take me to You without my being tried. And I ask You for Your love, and the love of him who loves You, and the love of the deed that will bring me to Your love.'
