Dua for Protection from the Fear of Unfulfilled Promises

Fear
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2708

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your favors, and from the change of Your protection, and from the sudden punishment of Your wrath, and from all that displeases You.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik.

When to Read

This dua is comprehensive, seeking refuge from many potential harms. It is especially relevant when you feel anxious about the stability of your blessings, your well-being, or when you fear that your actions might lead to Allah's displeasure, which could manifest as unfulfilled promises or other forms of hardship. Recite it regularly as a morning and evening supplication, or whenever you feel a sense of unease or vulnerability.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with full conviction in Allah's ability to protect you. Raise your hands in supplication as you would for other duas. Understand the meaning of each phrase and feel the humility and reliance on Allah. It's recommended to say it after the obligatory prayers or as part of your daily remembrance (dhikr).

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a deep seeking of Allah's protection from the loss of blessings, the reversal of good health and well-being, unexpected calamities, and His anger. By seeking refuge from these, we indirectly seek protection from the outcomes that might feel like unfulfilled promises from life or circumstances. It fosters a mindset of contentment with what Allah has given and reliance on Him for continued favor, which can ease the anxiety associated with perceived unmet expectations.

(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your favors, and from the change of Your protection, and from the sudden punishment of Your wrath, and from all that displeases You.)
