The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever says this prayer when he enters upon the evening, it will be a protection for him until the morning, and whoever says it when he enters upon the morning, it will be a protection for him until the evening.' (This narration is from Sunan Abi Dawud, but the context of seeking refuge from evil and devils is applicable in times of fear and conflict, as the Prophet ﷺ taught various supplications for different fears. The principle of seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words against harm applies universally.)
