Dua for Protection Against Slander and False Accusations

Fear
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2708

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the Giver of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik.

When to Read

This powerful dua is for any time you feel vulnerable to the sting of slander or the weight of false accusations. It's a profound plea for Allah's protection over your reputation, well-being, and standing. Recite it when you're feeling anxious about what others might say, or when facing a situation where your integrity is being questioned. It's a wise practice to make this a regular part of your morning and evening supplications, seeking Allah's continuous safeguarding.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere conviction and a humble heart. Raise your hands slightly, as was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ in supplication. Believe deeply that Allah, the Most Merciful, is your ultimate protector. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, acknowledging your complete reliance on Him to shield you from harm, both seen and unseen, including the damage caused by false words.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication offers immense peace of mind by entrusting your affairs to Allah. It's a recognition that true honor and protection come only from Him. By seeking refuge in Allah from the 'change of Your protection' and 'suddenness of Your vengeance,' we are asking Him to maintain His grace and cover over us, preventing calamities that could arise from His displeasure, which often manifests in reputational damage or hardship.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never abandoned these supplications: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ. (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the Giver of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure.) And also: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from inability and inactivity, from cowardice and greed, from being overtaken by debt and by men (i.e., subjugation).
