Fear
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 5696

O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and determination in following guidance. I ask You to grant me the ability to be grateful for Your favors and to worship You well. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for all the good You know, and I seek refuge in You from all the evil I know. I seek Your forgiveness for what You know, for indeed You are the Knower of all hidden things.

Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan saadiqan, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma a'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima ta'lam innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.

When to Read

This dua is particularly beneficial when you feel overwhelmed by potential future hardships, uncertain about your ability to withstand trials, or when facing a significant challenge. Recite it during the times when your faith might waver, or your resolve feels weak.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, preferably after your obligatory prayers or during the times when supplications are readily accepted (like the last third of the night or between the Adhan and Iqamah). Raise your hands slightly, face the Qiblah if possible, and pour out your heart to Allah, the Most Merciful.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful supplication encompasses a comprehensive request for spiritual and emotional resilience. It seeks Allah's help in remaining firm in our faith and actions ('steadfastness in all matters'), possessing a strong will to do good ('determination in following guidance'), and maintaining gratitude for His blessings. Asking for a 'sound heart' is crucial for inner peace, free from malice and doubt, while a 'truthful tongue' ensures our words align with our intentions. By seeking refuge from evil and asking for forgiveness, we are acknowledging our limitations and His absolute knowledge and power, leading to greater reliance on Him and reducing the fear of His tests.

Source & Authentication
