Dua for Courage When Facing Intimidation

Fear
Sahih HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1537

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَجْعَلُكَ فِي نُحُورِهِمْ وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شُرُورِهِمْ

O Allah, we put You forth before them, and we seek refuge in You from their evil.

Allahumma inna naj'aluka fi nuhurihim wa na'udhu bika min shururihim

When to Read

Recite this dua when you feel intimidated by someone or a group of people, whether it's a bully, an unjust authority figure, or simply someone whose presence makes you feel uneasy and fearful. It's particularly potent when facing potential conflict or confrontation.

How to Read

Say this with conviction, directing your plea to Allah. Imagine placing your trust fully in Him, acknowledging that He is the ultimate protector. Utter it with a clear voice, or even silently in your heart, as you stand before the source of your fear or just before an encounter.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication embodies a powerful reliance on Allah (Tawakkul). By acknowledging Him as the one 'before them' (meaning, the one you are facing them with) and seeking refuge from their harm, you are symbolically transferring the burden of the situation to Allah's protection. It's a declaration that true power and safety lie with Him alone, which can significantly bolster your inner strength and reduce feelings of intimidation.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Musa that when the Prophet ﷺ feared a people, he would say: 'Allahumma inna naj'aluka fi nuhurihim wa na'udhu bika min shururihim.' (O Allah, we put You forth before them, and we seek refuge in You from their evil.)
