O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all that You decree. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief. I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fajahati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal hammi wal hazan, wa a'udhu bika minal 'ajzi wal kasal, wa a'udhu bika minal jubni wal bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid dayni wa qahrir rijal.
When to Read
Recite this dua when you feel the weight of societal pressure or personal fear preventing you from speaking up against injustice or wrongdoing. It's particularly relevant when you find yourself hesitant to say 'no' to something you know is displeasing to Allah, out of fear of the consequences or what others might think.
How to Read
This is a comprehensive supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Raise your hands (as is customary in Dua) and recite it with sincere intention and a heartfelt plea to Allah. Focus on each aspect of what you are seeking refuge from, internalizing the meaning.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua addresses multiple fears and anxieties, including the fear of men's disapproval or being overcome by them ('qahr ar-rijal'). By seeking refuge from cowardice ('al-jubn'), you are directly asking Allah for the bravery needed to stand firm in truth and courageously refuse to participate in or condone wrong actions, even when faced with pressure. It also seeks protection from helplessness and laziness, which can often accompany a lack of courage.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to seek refuge (in Allah) from six things, saying: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all that You decree. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief. I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.' And he used to say: 'I have said it, and indeed I seek refuge in You from them.'
