اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is not directly for courage, but asking Allah for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds is crucial before embarking on any significant endeavor. It aligns our intentions with what is pleasing to Allah, which in turn can bolster our inner strength and resolve. Recite this before starting a challenging project, facing a difficult conversation, or preparing for an exam, seeking Allah's blessings and guidance.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity, having a clear intention for the task ahead. It is recommended to raise your hands slightly while making this supplication, as you would for other duas. Focus on the meaning of the words and the reliance they express upon Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking these three things – knowledge, provision, and acceptance of deeds – from Allah is a comprehensive request that covers spiritual, material, and practical aspects of life. Beneficial knowledge guides us, good provision sustains us, and accepted deeds weigh heavily on our scales. By asking for these, we implicitly ask for Allah's help in overcoming any obstacles, including those that require courage, because His aid is tied to righteous seeking and action.

Source & Authentication

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The supplication of the servant is granted as long as the supplication is not for something sinful or for the severing of ties of kinship, and as long as he does not become impatient.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what does it mean for him to become impatient?' He said: 'He says: "I supplicated, I supplicated, and I do not think He will answer me," and he becomes weary and gives up supplication." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say when the morning came: 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, and goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.'
