O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that You dislike. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, and I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa fuji'ati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhatik, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal hammi wal huzn, wa a'udhu bika minal 'ajzi wal kasal, wa a'udhu bika minal jubni wal bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabad-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.
When to Read
This powerful dua can be recited at any time, but it is particularly beneficial to invoke it when you feel a rising sense of anxiety about making mistakes during Salah. Recite it before prayer, or even during the moments you feel overwhelmed by doubt or fear of error.
How to Read
This is a comprehensive supplication seeking Allah's protection against many difficulties, including those that can manifest as fear and helplessness. Raise your hands in supplication (sunnah when making dua), face the Qiblah if possible, and recite with sincerity and conviction. Believe that Allah is the ultimate source of strength and protection.
Virtues & Benefits
While this specific dua doesn't directly mention 'mistakes in prayer', its comprehensive nature covers the underlying causes of such fear: worry, grief, helplessness, and cowardice. By seeking refuge in Allah from these, we strengthen our hearts and minds to face any challenge with more composure. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a shield against distressing matters, helping us to feel more secure and less prone to anxiety, which directly impacts our concentration and confidence in prayer.

‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to invoke Allah frequently, saying: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa fuji'ati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal hammi wal huzn, wa a'udhu bika minal 'ajzi wal kasal, wa a'udhu bika minal jubni wal bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabad-dayni wa qahrir-rijal." She said: "So I used to invoke this for myself and for these words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ." (Sahih Muslim)
