Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'He who says: ***'Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem'*** (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can harm on earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) three times in the morning, will not be afflicted by any calamity until the evening; and whoever says it three times in the evening, will not be afflicted by any calamity until the morning.' Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'This was what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).' Later, Ayub (a narrator) was afflicted by some ailment, and the person who was telling him the hadith began to look at him. Ayub said to him: 'What are you looking at? By Allah, I did not utter this hadith when the calamity befell me, but Allah's decree came and it so happened.'
