I seek protection for you both with the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every venomous pest, and from every condemning eye.
U'eezukuma bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hāmmatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmah
When to Read
This beautiful dua is recommended to be recited for newborns, especially within the first few days and weeks of their life. It's a proactive measure for protection, just as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would seek Allah's protection for his grandsons, Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them). You can recite it daily, after Salah, or whenever you feel the need for extra reassurance.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a firm belief in Allah's power to protect. You can place your hand on the baby while reciting, or breathe gently onto them after completion, imbuing the words with your intention for their well-being. It's also a practice to blow gently onto the child after reciting the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas).
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is invoking Allah's comprehensive protection for the baby. This dua specifically mentions protection from devils ('shaytan'), harmful creatures ('hāmmah'), and the evil eye (''ayn lāmmah'). By reciting it, you are following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who set this powerful example for safeguarding children. It brings peace of mind to parents, knowing they are actively seeking Allah's shield for their precious little one.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to seek Allah's protection for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn saying: 'I seek protection for you both with Allah's perfect words, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.'
