أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This is a powerful dua that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite for protection. It's especially relevant when you feel your children are being admired, which can inadvertently attract the evil eye. Reciting it regularly, perhaps in the morning and evening, or whenever you notice admiration directed towards your child, is a beautiful way to seek Allah's safeguarding.
How to Read
The Prophet ﷺ instructed us to recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening to seek Allah's protection. When reciting it for your child, you can gently blow onto them after reciting the dua, similar to how the Prophet ﷺ did for Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them). It's important to recite with sincere belief and full reliance on Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself sought refuge in these words for his grandsons, Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them). He told his companions that by saying this, Allah would suffice them from all things, including the evil eye. It's a testament to the power of Allah's words and a reminder that ultimate protection comes only from Him. Trusting in this dua is a way of acknowledging Allah's supremacy and His ability to shield us and our loved ones from harm.
