In the name of Allah. O Allah, protect my husband, my offspring, and my wealth, and shelter them under Your shade on the Day when there is no shade but Your shade.
Bismillah, Allahumma ihfadh zawji wa dhurriyyati wa mali, wa adhillehum bi dhillika yawma la dhilla illa dhilluk
When to Read
This powerful supplication is perfect for married individuals, or those about to be married, who wish to invoke Allah's protection over their union. Recite it regularly, especially during times of increased social interaction or when you feel a need for specific safeguarding. You can make it a part of your daily duas, perhaps after Fajr or Maghrib prayers, or any time you make personal supplication (dua).
How to Read
Begin with Bismillah ('In the name of Allah'). Recite the dua with sincerity and conviction, directing your heart and mind solely towards Allah. Visualize the protection of Allah encompassing your spouse, children, and property. Understand that this is a request to the One who has absolute power over all protection. You can raise your hands as you would for other supplications, or place your hand on your spouse or children while reciting, if reciting for them directly.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly asks Allah for protection from harm, specifically mentioning the safeguarding of one's spouse, children, and wealth. It seeks the ultimate refuge – Allah's shade on the Day of Judgment, which signifies immense comfort and security. By reciting this, we acknowledge our reliance on Allah and seek His covering against all forms of evil, including the 'evil eye' (al-'ayn) and envy (hasad), which can subtly impact even the most blessed circumstances.
Source & Authentication
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach us this invocation as he used to teach us a Surah from the Qur'an, saying: "One seeks protection with the like of these words: 'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq' (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created)."' In another narration, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever seeks refuge with the perfect words of Allah, nothing harms him.' This particular phrasing found in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim is often recited when seeking protection for oneself and one's family, reflecting a general supplication for safeguarding.
