بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنِّي حَرَّهَا وَبَرْدَهَا وَوَصَبَهَا
In the name of Allah. O Allah, remove from me its heat and its cold and its hardship.
Bismillahi, Allahumma adhhib 'annee harraha wa bardaha wa wasabaha
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when you feel the effects of the evil eye or envy strongly, perhaps experiencing unexplained physical discomfort, emotional distress, or a sudden downturn in your affairs. It can be recited as a general protective measure, especially if you are often exposed to people or situations where envy might be present. Reciting it daily, particularly in the morning and evening, can serve as a powerful shield.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and firm belief in Allah's power to protect. It's recommended to place your hand on the area of discomfort or your chest as you recite it. You can also blow gently onto yourself after reciting it, as this was a practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for seeking protection. Combine this with other duas for protection, such as reciting Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication directly seeks Allah's intervention to neutralize the harmful effects of the evil eye, which can manifest as physical illness, emotional distress, or a disruption of blessings. By invoking Allah's name and asking Him to remove the 'heat, cold, and hardship,' we are acknowledging that only He has the power to protect us from such unseen harms. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) when she complained about the evil eye affecting him, demonstrating its efficacy and importance.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon her, and she was suffering from fever. She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, may Allah afflict me with the fever of the Jinn.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the evil (from this illness). Heal him, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no sickness behind.' Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: 'So I recovered from that illness, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'As for you, may Allah reward you, and the like of it, and grant you a good recovery.' Then he said: 'When one of you suffers from fever or any illness, he should say: Bismillahi, Allahumma adhhib 'annee harraha wa bardaha wa wasabaha (In the name of Allah. O Allah, remove from me its heat and its cold and its hardship). And when one of you complains of sickness, he should wipe his hand over himself and say: Bismillahi, Allahumma adhhib 'annee harraha wa bardaha wa wasabaha (In the name of Allah. O Allah, remove from me its heat and its cold and its hardship).'
