أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This powerful dua is especially relevant when you or a loved one is recovering from illness. The vulnerability during recovery can sometimes make one more susceptible to the effects of the evil eye (al-'ayn) or envy (hasad). Reciting this regularly, particularly after experiencing admiration from others, or when feeling a lingering sense of unease or a setback in recovery, is highly beneficial. Make it a habit when visiting someone ill, or when someone visits you, as a proactive measure for protection.
How to Read
Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening. It's also recommended to recite it when entering a place where there's a possibility of encountering the evil eye, or when you see something that you admire, to say 'Masha'Allah la quwwata illa billah' (What Allah wills, there is no power except with Allah) and then this dua. It's best recited with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's protection, while placing your hand on the affected area of the body if it pertains to a physical ailment.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication is a direct appeal to Allah's perfect words, which have no deficiency and are a source of immense power and protection. By seeking refuge in them, we acknowledge that true safety and healing come only from Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a means to ward off all forms of evil, including the unseen harms that can afflict us, such as the evil eye. Its consistent recitation fortifies one's spiritual and physical well-being, particularly during times of weakness and recovery, allowing the healing process to proceed unimpeded by negative influences.
