أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq

When to Read

This powerful supplication is perfect for reciting daily, especially in the morning and evening, to seek Allah's protection over yourself, your family, and all your loved ones. It's particularly recommended when you feel a sense of unease, or if you've been noticing unusual occurrences that might be attributed to the evil eye or envy.

How to Read

Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening. It's also highly beneficial to recite it while placing your hand on the person you wish to protect (e.g., a child) or on your own chest. Breathe with intention, asking Allah to safeguard them with His perfect words.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly invokes the perfect, uncreated words of Allah (which refer to the Quran and His divine decree) as a shield against all forms of evil that He has created. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a comprehensive means of seeking refuge, encompassing protection from physical harm, spiritual afflictions, and the negative energies stemming from envy and the evil eye. By reciting it diligently, we affirm our complete reliance on Allah, trusting in His ultimate power to guard us and our families.

‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "He who says three times every morning and evening: 'A'udhu billahi-s-sami'i al-'alimi min ash-shaytani-r-rajim' (I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed Satan), and then recites the last three verses of Surah Al-Hashr, Allah appoints seventy thousand angels to protect him from every evil, and if he dies on that day, he dies a martyr, and if he becomes in the evening, he dies a martyr." He (the narrator) said: 'Abdullah ibn Ghannam said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: ‘O ‘Abdullah ibn Ghannam, shall I not teach you a supplication which would save the members of your household, and those around you, and those whom you command? It is: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa min kulli 'aynin lammah (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil, and from every poisonous creature, and from every evil, envious eye)."
