O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, and the reversal of Your protection, and the sudden affliction of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of the Fire, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of wealth, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of the Dajjal. O Allah, cleanse my heart with water, snow, and hail. Purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from filth. And make the distance between me and my sins as great as the distance between the East and the West. And I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the evil of divine decree, and from the depths of misery, and from the rejoicing of enemies, and from the hardships of trials, and from being overcome by men. And I seek refuge in You from the supplication of the envious, and from the evil of Satan and his helpers, and from the burden of debt, and from scarcity of provisions, and from the evil of this world and the Hereafter.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to teach his companions to seek refuge in Allah with these words, taking refuge in Allah from the evil of what He created. He would say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa fuj'ati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhatika. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-qabri, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatin-nari, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-ghina, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-faqr, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatid-dajjal. Allahummaghsil qalbi bil-ma'i wath-thalji wal-baradi, wa naqqini minal-khataya kama naqqayta-th-thawbal-abyada minad-danasi, wa ba'id bayni wa bayna khataayaaya kama baa'adta baynal-mashriqi wal-maghribi, wa a'udhu bika min 'adhabil-qabri, wa min sui'il-qada'i, wa min darakish-shaqa'i, wa min shamatatil-a'daa'i, wa min juhdil-balaa'i, wa min ghalabati-r-rijali, wa min da'watil-haaqidina, wa min sharrish-shaytani wa rijalihi, wa min kathratid-dayni, wa min qallatiz-zaadi, wa min sharrid-dunya wal-akhirah.' (Sahih Muslim 771).
