In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem.
When to Read
This powerful dua is recommended to be recited three times in the morning and three times in the evening. It's a comprehensive protection against all forms of harm, including the subtle but potent influence of our own negative thoughts, self-sabotaging actions, or the 'evil eye' that can manifest from within.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, believing in Allah's power to protect. Focus on the meaning of the words: acknowledging Allah's name as the ultimate shield, and recognizing His perfect hearing and knowledge of all things. Say it with a clear mind, visualizing Allah's protection surrounding you.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised immense protection to whoever recites this dua consistently. He ﷺ said: 'Whoever says this three times in the morning, he will not be afflicted by any calamity suddenly in that day, and whoever says it three times in the evening, he will not be overtaken by calamity suddenly during that night.' (Sahih Abu Dawud 5087). This protection extends beyond external threats, encompassing internal struggles and the harm we might inadvertently cause ourselves through our own thoughts and deeds.
Source & Authentication
Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did not leave these words untouched at the beginning of every morning and evening. He narrated this hadith: 'Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem.' (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing). So 'Abdullah (Ibn 'Umar) used to say them when the wind and clouds appeared, fearing lest it should be a trial (by Him).
