أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This dua is a comprehensive shield against all forms of evil, including the subtle and often overlooked 'evil eye' that can affect inanimate objects. We often admire things – a beautiful building, a new car, a well-decorated room. Without realizing it, our own admiration, or that of others, can sometimes carry a tinge of envy or possessiveness that, if not checked, can lead to negative effects. Reciting this dua regularly, especially when entering new places or admiring something, acts as a spiritual safeguard.
How to Read
Recite this supplication three times in the morning and three times in the evening. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this practice as a powerful means of protection. It's recommended to recite it with sincerity and focus, understanding that Allah's perfect words are the ultimate shield. You can also recite it specifically when you feel uneasy about a place or object, or when you see something that strikes you with awe or admiration.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever says this dua three times in the morning, nothing will harm him until evening. Whoever says it three times in the evening, nothing will harm him until morning.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This hadith highlights the comprehensive protection this dua offers, extending even to the subtle influences we might not consciously recognize, such as the 'evil eye' cast upon possessions or structures.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'There is no slave who says in the morning: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created) - three times, but that nothing will harm him until evening comes. And if he says it in the evening, nothing will harm him until morning comes.'
