In the name of Allah. O Allah, grant me health in my body. O Allah, grant me health in my hearing. O Allah, grant me health in my sight. There is no god but You.
Bismillah, Allahumma 'afini fi badani, Allahumma 'afini fi sam'i, Allahumma 'afini fi basari, la ilaha illa anta.
When to Read
This powerful dua is for seeking Allah's protection in all aspects of your well-being – physical, sensory, and spiritual. While it's a general prayer for health and safety, it is particularly beneficial when you feel vulnerable to the effects of the evil eye, whether it's from others' admiration or envy. Recite it daily, especially in the morning and evening, or whenever you feel a sense of unease or concern about unseen harm.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that protection comes only from Allah. Place your hand on the part of your body you wish to protect as you say it. Focus on the meaning of seeking Allah's well-being and the affirmation of His oneness. Repeating it three times in the morning and evening is a Sunnah practice for seeking general protection.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses a comprehensive request for Allah's protection over your body, hearing, and sight. By seeking 'afiyah (well-being and protection from harm), you are asking Allah to shield you from all forms of illness, distress, and the evil eye. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a means of seeking comprehensive safety and acknowledging Allah as the sole source of protection.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek refuge with Allah from the evil eye, until he settled in Al-Madinah, and when the walls of Al-Madinah were built, he left that. He used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have created." (Sunan Abi Dawud 5090, Sahih). Another narration states: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "When one of you looks at something that pleases him from his brother, let him supplicate for him (i.e., say: 'May Allah bless him')." This emphasizes that admiration itself can be a source of harm if not accompanied by prayer for the admired. Furthermore, regarding protection from admiration specifically, it is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua: "O Allah, grant me health in my body. O Allah, grant me health in my hearing. O Allah, grant me health in my sight. There is no god but You." (Sunan Abi Dawud 5090, Sahih). This dua is excellent for seeking overall well-being and protection against harm, including the subtle harm that can arise from uncontrolled admiration.
