أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This powerful dua is recommended for recitation when you feel a sense of unease, suspect exposure to sorcery or magic, or fear the effects of the evil eye cast by anyone, including those who practice witchcraft or sorcery. It's also a good practice to recite it regularly as a general protection, especially before sleeping or upon waking.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and complete reliance on Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to say it three times in the morning and three times in the evening for protection. When facing a specific threat, one can also place their hand on the area of pain or discomfort and recite this dua, along with blowing gently over it, as taught in other narrations related to ruqyah.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication encapsulates seeking Allah's ultimate protection through His perfect and complete words. It signifies a believer's acknowledgment that no harm can reach them except by Allah's decree, and that His words are a shield against all forms of evil, including that which is conjured through magic or the envious gaze of the evil eye. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned that whoever recites this in the evening will be protected until the morning, and whoever recites it in the morning will be protected until the evening. This implies comprehensive safeguarding against all troubles.
