In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem
When to Read
When you find yourself on the cusp of a significant life decision – whether it's choosing a career path, making a marriage proposal, starting a new venture, or even relocating – and you feel the weight of potential envy or ill-will from others, or simply a sense of unease. Recite this dua before you commit, during the deliberation phase, and even after you've made the decision, to seek Allah's shield.
How to Read
Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening, as recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). When facing a specific major decision, you can recite it with sincere intention and full reliance on Allah (SWT). Visualize Allah's protection surrounding you and your decision. Maintain a state of purity (wudu) if possible, and face the Qibla if you wish, though the primary condition is sincere supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua is a shield against all forms of harm, including the invisible harm of the evil eye and envy (hasad). By invoking Allah's name in this manner, you affirm your absolute trust in His power to protect you. The Prophet (peace be upon him) promised that whoever says this three times every morning and evening will not be afflicted by any sudden calamity. In the context of major life decisions, it grants peace of mind, averts potential negative influences, and ensures that your choices are guided by Allah's will.

Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "There is no servant who says, in the morning of every day and the evening of every night: 'Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem' (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) – three times – but that nothing will harm him." (Reported by Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi, who said it is Hasan Sahih.)
