أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This powerful dua is especially relevant when you are in a state of increased spiritual focus, such as during a retreat, pilgrimage (like Umrah or Hajj), or any period dedicated to intense worship and reflection. The evil eye can target even those actively seeking closeness to Allah, so reciting this can fortify your spiritual sanctuary. You can make it a part of your morning and evening remembrance (dhikr) or recite it whenever you feel particularly vulnerable or exposed.
How to Read
Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening. It is recommended to blow gently into your hands and then wipe over your body, starting with the head and face, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Ensure you are in a state of wudu if possible, and recite with sincere intention and full conviction in Allah's power to protect.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a shield gifted by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for protection against all kinds of harmful creation, including the unseen harms of the evil eye and envy (hasad). By seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, we acknowledge His ultimate power and sovereignty over all matters, including those that can cause harm. It is a beautiful affirmation of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) and a practical means of safeguarding oneself during times of heightened spiritual activity, when one might be more susceptible to negative influences.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever says: *'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaqa'* (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created) - three times - nothing harmful will afflict him.' Ibn 'Abbas said: 'The Prophet ﷺ used to teach them (his companions) this supplication as a protection against the evil eye.'
