Dua for Guidance and Truth Through Dreams

Daily Evening Routine
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 735

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This is a powerful supplication recited in the morning, often after the Fajr prayer. While not exclusively for dreams, asking Allah for beneficial knowledge ('ilman nafi'an') encompasses seeking clarity and understanding, which can manifest in various ways, including insightful dreams. If you are specifically seeking guidance or truth through dreams, you can make this intention while reciting it and supplementing with other duas for guidance.

How to Read

Recite this sincerely after your morning prayers, with full conviction in Allah's ability to grant your request. Raise your hands if you are in a private place, as is customary for supplication. Focus on the meaning of each word: asking for knowledge that benefits you in this life and the next, provisions that are lawful and wholesome, and deeds that are accepted by Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for the best of this world and the Hereafter. Beneficial knowledge leads us on the right path, pure provisions sustain us without bringing harm, and accepted deeds are our investment for eternity. By seeking these three, we ask Allah to align our actions and our understanding with His pleasure, which can indirectly lead to divinely inspired insights, including through dreams.

Source & Authentication

Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would go to bed, he would place his hand under his cheek and say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and acceptable deeds.)
