Sahih HadithMusnad Ahmad 3712

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is assured, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sadness and a release for my anxiety.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu 'amatika, nasiyati bi yadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka. As'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, awista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'alal-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jala'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No person suffers any anxiety or sorrow, and says: [the above dua] but Allah will take away his anxiety and sorrow, and grant him instead joy." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we not learn it?" He said, "Yes, whoever hears it should learn it." — Musnad Ahmad 3712 (Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut: Its chain of narration is sahih, and its narrators are trustworthy. Graded Sahih by Al-Albani).
