Entering Home
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 3764

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى اللهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we exit, and in Allah, our Lord, we place our trust.

Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Allahi Rabbina tawakkalna.

When to Read

This dua is recited when entering your home. It's a beautiful way to begin your entry, acknowledging Allah's presence in your space and seeking His protection from any negativity, both external and internal.

How to Read

Recite this supplication with sincerity and a mindful heart as you step across the threshold of your home. Say it clearly and with conviction, inviting Allah's blessings and peace into your dwelling.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua serves as a powerful shield against Shaytan and any negative influences. By starting your entry with Allah's name and placing your trust in Him, you are essentially declaring your home as a sanctuary under His protection. This can help repel intrusive thoughts and create an atmosphere of tranquility, as Shaytan is repelled when Allah's name is mentioned. It reminds us that our entire journey, from entering to exiting, is under His watchful care.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When a man enters his house, he should say: O Allah, I ask You for the good of entering and the good of exiting, in the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we exit, and in Allah, our Lord, we place our trust.' Then he should say: 'May our souls be blessed, and our sustenance be sufficient.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3764. Graded Hasan by some scholars).
