Entering Home
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1978

In the name of Allah, we enter, and in the name of Allah, we leave, and in Allah, our Lord, we place our trust. O Allah, I ask of You the best of entering and the best of exiting. In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and in our Lord we depend.

Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Allahi Rabbina tawakkalna. Allahumma inni as'aluka khayral madkhali wa khayral makhraji, bismillahi walajna, wa billahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina i'tamadna.

Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When one of you enters his house, let him say: 'O Allah, I ask of You the best of entering and the best of exiting. In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and in Allah, our Lord, we place our trust.' Then let him say when he eats: 'O Allah, bless us in what You have provided and forgive us and have mercy on us.' And when he has finished, let him say: 'O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, let me live if You know that life is better for me, and take me if You know that death is better for me. O Allah, I ask of You for the fear of You in private and in public, and I ask of You the word of truth in contentment and in anger. I ask of You moderation in wealth and poverty. I ask of You a bliss that does not cease. I ask of You the pleasure of Your decree and a life of goodness and a life after death. I seek refuge in You from a damaging argument and from every temptation. O Allah, I ask of You the good of it and the good of what is in it and the good of what it was sent with. And I seek refuge in You from the evil of it, and the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it was sent with.' And when he goes to bed, let him say: 'O Allah, I protect my face and my soul from You, and I refrain from asking for anything other than what is good from You. Then if You take my soul, forgive me. And if You keep me alive, then protect me. And by Your will, spend the night.'" (Reported by Abu Dawud, authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Abu Dawud)
