O Allah, I ask You for its goodness, the goodness of what is in it, and the goodness of what it has been sent with. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it has been sent with.
Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ma fiha wa khayra ma ursilat bihi. Wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma fiha wa sharri ma ursilat bihi.
When to Read
This dua is particularly relevant when strong winds arise, especially those that feel unnatural or possess a destructive force like a microburst. Reciting it helps us acknowledge Allah's dominion over all natural phenomena and seek His protection from any potential harm.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heart that is aware of Allah's power. It's best recited upon observing the onset of strong winds, or even as a general supplication during times of severe weather. Imagine the wind as a creation of Allah, and you are seeking His best and protection from its potential harm.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication embodies our reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) in the face of powerful natural forces. It teaches us to see even the most formidable weather as being under Allah's command, and that seeking refuge with Him is the ultimate safeguard. By asking for the 'goodness' of the wind and what it carries, we acknowledge that even harsh-seeming events can have a hidden good or purpose decreed by Allah.
