When to Read

This dua is particularly relevant when encountering sudden, dense fog that obscures vision and can be disorienting. It's a reminder to turn to Allah during times of natural phenomena that can feel overwhelming or cause unease, seeking His protection and clarity of path.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a firm belief in Allah's power over all things, including the weather. Focus on the meaning of the words, acknowledging Allah's glory and the fear the creation inspires in the angels themselves. It's a moment to pause, seek refuge, and ask for His guidance to navigate through the obscurity.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication connects us to Allah during moments of natural intensity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua when he saw lightning and heard thunder, recognizing the awe-inspiring power of creation. By reciting it during dense fog, we acknowledge Allah's absolute dominion over all forces of nature, seeking His protection from any potential harm or confusion the fog might bring and asking for the clarity He alone can grant.

Source & Authentication

Abdullah reported: The Prophet ﷺ, when hearing thunder, would leave off speaking. He would say: Glorify Allah and praise Him. Then he would say: Glorious is He Whom the thunder glorifies by His praise, and so do the angels out of His awe. Then he would add: 'Verily, this is the thunder that warns the worshippers.' - Sahih Muslim 149
