O Allah, keep us alive with Your provision, and do not let us die of hunger, and admit us into Paradise with the righteous, and save us from the Fire, O You who are the Ancient Source of Goodness.

Allahumma ahyina birizqika wa la tumitna bijoo'in wa adkhilnal jannata ma'al abrar wa najjina minan nari ya qadeemal ihsan

When to Read

This comprehensive dua is suitable to recite when facing scarcity, threats to food security, or the appearance of destructive pests like locusts that can decimate crops. It can be recited daily, especially during seasons prone to such challenges, or when specific fears arise.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and a humble heart, directing your supplication solely to Allah. It is recommended to raise your hands as you make dua. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, though the dua itself is permissible at any time and in any state. Reflect on the meaning of the words as you utter them.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses seeking Allah's sustenance and protection from hunger, a fundamental human need. It asks for entry into Paradise and salvation from the Fire, highlighting the ultimate goals of a believer. By seeking refuge from hunger, we indirectly seek protection from its devastating consequences, including the loss of crops due to pests and locusts, which directly impacts food security and livelihood.

Source & Authentication

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to teach them this supplication in the situation of famine, just as he used to teach them a Surah from the Quran: 'Allahumma ahyina birizqika wa la tumitna bijoo'in wa adkhilnal jannata ma'al abrar wa najjina minan nari ya qadeemal ihsan.' (O Allah, keep us alive with Your provision, and do not let us die of hunger, and admit us into Paradise with the righteous, and save us from the Fire, O You who are the Ancient Source of Goodness.)
