Weather & Nature
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2708

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq

When to Read

This powerful dua is incredibly relevant when venturing into unfamiliar or wild environments, like forests, deserts, or mountains. Anytime you find yourself away from settled areas, where unseen dangers might lurk – be it from wild animals, difficult terrain, or even harsh weather conditions – this is the perfect supplication to recite. It's especially vital when you're alone or feel a sense of vulnerability in nature. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this as a means of seeking Allah's protection whenever we travel or find ourselves in such circumstances.

How to Read

It's best to recite this dua sincerely and with full conviction in Allah's power to protect you. You can say it once, or repeat it three times for added emphasis. Make it a habit to recite it before setting out on your journey into the wilderness, and also during your time there whenever you feel the need for extra reassurance or are faced with a concerning situation. Picture in your mind that you are wrapping yourself in the divine protection of Allah's perfect words.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a shield against all sorts of hidden evils and dangers that Allah has created. The 'perfect words of Allah' are understood to encompass His divine decree and His creation. By seeking refuge in them, you are essentially placing yourself under His ultimate guardianship. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself said, 'Whoever recites this three times in the morning will not be harmed by anything until evening, and whoever recites it three times in the evening will not be harmed by anything until morning.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This highlights its efficacy in warding off both physical and perhaps even spiritual harm, especially in environments where one might feel exposed.
