O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion and my worldly affairs, and my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my faults and comfort me in my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, and from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being overthrown from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya, wa ahli, wa mali. Allahummastur 'awrati, wa amin raw'ati. When to Read
This comprehensive dua is perfect for reciting daily, especially in the morning and evening. Given the context of protection from natural disasters like landslides, it's particularly relevant when living in or traveling through mountainous or unstable terrain. It serves as a shield against various forms of harm, both spiritual and physical, and invokes Allah's protection against sudden, unexpected calamities, including those from the earth beneath us.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. It's recommended to raise your hands slightly while making the supplication, as is customary for seeking refuge with Allah. Ensure you are in a state of ritual purity if possible, though sincerity is the most crucial element. Make it a habit, integrating it into your daily remembrance of Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses a profound request for 'Afiyah, which means complete well-being – encompassing protection from all harm and distress, both physical and spiritual. By asking for protection from all directions ('before me, behind me, from my right, from my left, from above me') and seeking refuge from being 'overthrown from beneath me,' we are implicitly seeking protection from calamities originating from the earth, like landslides, as well as any other unforeseen dangers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a comprehensive supplication for safety and security in all aspects of life.
