O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, the reversal of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that displeases You.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is profoundly relevant when we witness or are concerned about environmental disturbances like harmful algae blooms, pollution, or any natural phenomenon that threatens the purity and safety of water bodies. It's particularly fitting when the water's natural state is visibly compromised, impacting ecosystems and potentially human health. Reciting it can be a regular practice, especially for those living near or relying on affected water sources, or during times of environmental warnings.
How to Read
This dua should be recited with sincere conviction and a clear understanding of its meaning. Facing the Qiblah (direction of prayer) is recommended, though not strictly obligatory for supplication outside of Salah. Raise your hands in the customary manner for dua. Begin with praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recite the Arabic text clearly, focusing on each word. Internalize the meaning of seeking refuge from the loss of Allah's favors, the decline of health and safety, unexpected retribution, and anything that incurs His displeasure. Conclude by asking Allah to accept your dua.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication encapsulates a request for comprehensive protection against various forms of misfortune and divine displeasure. By seeking refuge in Allah from the 'disappearance of Your blessings,' we ask Him to preserve the favors He has bestowed upon us, including clean and usable water. The plea against the 'reversal of Your well-being' (translated as 'health' in some versions) directly addresses concerns about the health impacts of contaminated water. Seeking refuge from 'suddenness of Your punishment' and 'all that displeases You' acts as a shield against environmental calamities or any human actions that might bring about such consequences, including the pollution that leads to harmful algae blooms. It fosters a deep reliance on Allah and a recognition that ultimate protection and well-being come from Him alone.
