اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّمَ
O Allah, save me from the heat of Hellfire.
Allahumma ajirni min hammi wa hazani, Allahumma ajirni min jahannam
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when facing intense heat in this world. It's an excellent practice to recite it during the peak of summer, or whenever you feel overwhelmed by the heat. More importantly, it is a crucial supplication for the Day of Judgment, when the sun will be brought extremely close to mankind, and the heat will be unimaginable. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to say this seven times in the morning and seven times in the evening to be protected from the heat of Jahannam.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Understand that the heat of this world, though challenging, is but a fraction of the heat of the Hereafter. Focus on seeking Allah's mercy and protection from the punishment of the Fire. The Prophet ﷺ emphasized reciting it seven times in the morning and seven times in the evening. So, after Fajr prayer and after Asr prayer, make this a regular part of your supplications.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit of this dua is seeking Allah's refuge from the unbearable heat of Jahannam. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated regarding this dua: 'Whoever says this (three times) in the morning has fulfilled his duty to be protected for that day, and whoever says it (three times) in the evening has fulfilled his duty to be protected for that night.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5073, narrated by Abu Hurairah). While the narration often mentions 'three times,' other narrations specify 'seven times' for protection from the heat of Jahannam. The essence is consistent: this supplication is a shield against the Fire's torment. Furthermore, seeking protection from a specific torment of Allah's punishment in this life can cultivate a deeper consciousness of our need for His mercy in the Hereafter. It reminds us of the ultimate reality and encourages us to live in a state of constant reliance on our Creator.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'When it is hot, pray the prayer in coolness (i.e., delay the prayer until it cools down), for the intense heat is from the evil blast of Hell. When it is extremely cold, make the prayer in coolness (i.e., hasten the prayer when it is time), for the intense cold is from the evil blast of Hell.' Abu Dawud said: The people of Al-Madinah referred to the intense heat as 'the blast of Hell'. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'When any of you prays, and it is like the heat of the summer, let him pray in coolness, for the fierceness of the heat is a puff from the breath of Hell. When it is the cold of winter, let him pray in coolness, for the fierceness of the cold is a puff from the breath of Hell.' Abu Dawud said: 'When any of you prays, and it is the heat of summer, let him pray in coolness, for the fierceness of the heat is a puff from the breath of Hell. When it is the cold of winter, let him pray in coolness, for the fierceness of the cold is a puff from the breath of Hell.' He also mentioned from the Prophet (ﷺ) that he said: 'O Allah, save me from the heat of Hell.' He said: 'O Allah, save me from the punishment of the grave.' He said: 'O Allah, save me from the trial of the Dajjal.' He said: 'O Allah, save me from the trial of life and the trial of death.' And he said: 'O Allah, grant me repentance before death, and grant me the ability to remember Allah and fear Him until I die, and grant me the ability to be pleased with Your decree, and grant me blessings in my life after death.' And he said: 'O Allah, do not make me wretched and do not deprive me.' And he said: 'O Allah, grant me guidance and righteousness and chastity and richness (contentment).'
