Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: When the Prophet (ﷺ) used to put on a new garment, he would mention its name (e.g., a turban, a shirt, or a cloak), and then say: 'Alhamdulillahilladhi kafaani wa awlaani, wa razaqani min hadhih-hi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwatin.' (All praise is due to Allah, Who sufficed me and blessed me with it, and provided me with it without any effort on my part, nor power.) (Another narration) Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri said: When the Prophet (ﷺ) put on a new shirt, he would say: 'Alhamdulillahilladhi kafaani wa awlaani, wa razaqani min hadhih-hi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwatin.' (All praise is due to Allah, Who sufficed me and blessed me with it, and provided me with it without any effort on my part, nor power.) (Another narration) It was narrated from Abu Sa'id that when the Prophet (ﷺ) acquired a new garment, he would name it, whether it was a shirt or a turban, and then say: 'Allahumma laka al-hamdu kama kasyaitanihi, as'aluka min khairihi wa khairi ma suni'a lah, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a lah.' (O Allah, praise be to You as You have clothed me with it. I ask You for its good and the good of what it was made for, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what it was made for.) (Another narration) Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore a new garment, he would mention its name, be it a shirt or a turban, and then say: 'Al-hamdu lillah alladhi kafani wa awlani, wa razaqani min ghairi hawlin minni wa la quwwatin.' (Praise be to Allah Who sufficed me and granted me the means, and provided me with it without any effort on my part nor power.) (Another narration) From Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore a new garment, he would say: 'Allahumma lakal-hamdu anta kasaytanihi, as'aluka min khairihi wa khairi ma huwa lahu, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma huwa lahu.' (O Allah, to You is the praise, You have clothed me with it. I ask You for its good and the good of what it is for, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what it is for.) *Note: While this entry uses a shorter, well-known version, longer variations with slightly different wording exist in other narrations, all conveying the same core meaning of gratitude and acknowledgment of Allah's blessings.*
