Reciting this dua upon wearing new clothes brings immense blessings. It acknowledges Allah's bounty and expresses sincere gratitude, which is a key virtue in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to remind us that even our ability to acquire and wear clothes is a gift from Allah, not a result of our own might. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was brought a garment. He would wear it, and then he would say: 'Alhamdulillahilladhi kasani hadha-th-thawba wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah.' (All praise is due to Allah, Who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided it for me, without any strength or power from myself.) Then he would forbid his companions from wearing the old garment that had been worn out until it had been turned into rags and used as a patch or to be mended. — Sunan Abi Dawud 4023, graded Hasan by Al-Albani. Also recorded in Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1770, and he said: 'Hasan Gharib.'
