Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When you wear a new garment, you should say: 'Alhamdulillahil-ladhi kasani hadha-th-thawba wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwatin' (All praise is due to Allah, who clothed me with this garment and provided it for me, without any strength or power from myself). And whoever wears a new garment and says: 'Alhamdulillahil-ladhi kasani ma tuwawri 'awrati wa atajammalu bihi fi hayati' (All praise is due to Allah, who clothed me with what covers my 'awrah and adorns me in my life), Allah will forgive his past sins. And whoever wears a new garment and says: 'Allahumma laka al-hamdu anta kasawtanihi, as'aluka min khayrihi wa khayri ma suni'a lahu, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a lahu' (O Allah, all praise is due to You. You have clothed me. I ask You for its good and the good of what it was made for, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what it was made for), Allah will preserve him.'
