Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever wears a garment and says: 'Praise be to Allah Who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided it for me, from other than my own strength and power,' he will be forgiven his previous and future sins.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 4025 - Hasan). Al-Tirmidhi narrated it with a slightly different wording, also indicating it as Hasan. The context of the hadith shows the general virtue of this dua for any garment, making it especially significant when recovering from illness, as the ability to dress oneself is a renewed blessing.
