Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Abu Na'im al-Fazari that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) put on a new garment, he would mention its name, be it a shirt or a turban, and then say: (Allahumma inni as'aluka min khayrihi wa khayri ma suni'a fihi, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a fihi). And when he took off a garment he would mention its name and say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِهِ وَخَيْرِ مَا جُبِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جُبِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ (Allahumma inni as'aluka min khayriha wa khayri ma jubilat 'alayhi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jubilat 'alayhi). This Hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Na'im from al-Fazari with the same chain of transmitters, and in the Hadith of Ibn Numayr: 'from the evil of what has been made for it'. And the Hadith of Ibn Hujr: 'from the evil of it and the evil of what it is made for'.
