الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided it for me, without any strength or power on my part.
Alhamdulillahilladhi kasani hadhath-thawba wa razaqanihi min ghairi hawlin minni wa la quwwatin
When to Read
This beautiful dua should be recited immediately after putting on any new piece of clothing, or even the clothes you wear daily. It's a moment to pause and connect with the Source of all blessings.
How to Read
As you slip on your shirt, trousers, or any garment, take a moment. Recite this dua sincerely, feeling the gratitude for Allah's provision. It’s not just about the words, but the feeling of dependence and thankfulness they represent. You can say it quietly to yourself or aloud.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua perfectly encapsulates the Islamic spirit of recognizing Allah's blessings in our everyday lives. By acknowledging that our ability to acquire clothing comes from Him, not our own might, we cultivate humility (tawadu') and foster a deeper sense of gratitude (shukr). It's a powerful reminder that every provision, no matter how small, is a gift from our Creator, preventing arrogance and strengthening our connection with Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua as a way to acknowledge Allah's grace in even the most mundane of activities, reminding us to remain conscious of Him at all times.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when he would put on a shirt or a robe or a cloak, would say: 'Alhamdulillahilladhi kasani hadhath-thawba wa razaqanihi min ghairi hawlin minni wa la quwwatin.' (All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided it for me, without any strength or power on my part.) - Narrated by Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi, who said it is Hasan.
