Dua for Trusting Allah's Wisdom When Facing Unforeseen Calamities

Trust in Allah
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3234

O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all matters, and the resolve to do what is right. I ask You to make me thankful for Your favors and to enable me to worship You in the best manner. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for all the good You know, and I seek refuge in You from all the evil You know. I ask Your forgiveness for what I know and for what I do not know.

Allahumma inni as'alukal-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan sadqan, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma a'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima a'lam, wa ma la a'lam.

It also seeks **gratitude** (شكر نعمة - shukr ni'mah) for what we have and the ability to **worship Allah beautifully** (حسن عبادة - husn 'ibadah). The request for a **sound heart** (قلب سليم - qalbun saleem) and a **truthful tongue** (لسان صادق - lisanun sadq) are foundations for a righteous life. Finally, by asking for the best from Allah's knowledge and seeking refuge from the evil He knows, we acknowledge His perfect awareness and our own limitations, leading to true reliance on His wisdom.

Narrated by Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: 'Allahumma inni as'alukal-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan sadqan, wa as'aluka min khairi ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma a'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima a'lam, wa ma la a'lam.'
