Dua for Trusting Allah When Starting a New Business Venture

Trust in Allah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2089

O Allah, I ask You for its good, and the good of what it contains, and the good of what You have predisposed it to. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, and the evil of what it contains, and the evil of what You have predisposed it to.

Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ahliha wa khayra ma jabalta 'alayhi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ahliha wa sharri ma jabalta 'alayhi.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking Allah's 'khayr' (good) and refuge from 'sharr' (evil) is a fundamental principle in Islam. When starting a business, this means asking Allah to bless the enterprise, grant success, ensure fair dealings, and protect you from financial loss, disputes, dishonest partners, and anything that could lead to sin. It’s acknowledging that true success and protection come only from Him, fostering reliance and trust (tawakkul).

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: When any of you goes to an animal which he has ridden, or a house which he has taken, may he say: (Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ahliha wa khayra ma jabalta 'alayhi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ahliha wa sharri ma jabalta 'alayhi). And when he enters a house, may he say: (Allahumma inni as'aluka khayra al-mawliji wa khayra al-makhraji, warahmatullahi wa barakatihi, Allahumma inni as'aluka rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan). And when he goes to sleep, may he say: (Allahumma inni as'aluka al-wa'y wa al-mubashshirat min Rabbika, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma fi al-layli wa ma ba'dahu, wa a'udhu bika min an-nar wa an-nar, wa an-nar).
