Trust in Allah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is particularly relevant when feeling overwhelmed by intricate global issues, diplomatic challenges, or geopolitical uncertainties. Recite it before engaging in discussions, making decisions, or simply when seeking clarity and guidance amidst complexity. It's a powerful supplication to equip oneself with the right mindset and spiritual strength to approach such matters with wisdom and reliance on Allah.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely with focused intention. It's recommended to raise your hands slightly during supplication, as taught by the Sunnah. Begin by praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Then, make this specific request. It’s best recited after prayers, or at any time you feel the need for divine support and insight. Maintaining a state of purity (wudu) enhances the spirit of the supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua, taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, covers three essential pillars for navigating life's complexities, including international relations. 1. **Beneficial Knowledge ('Ilman Nafi'an'):** In global affairs, this translates to understanding the nuances of different cultures, political systems, and economic realities. It’s the knowledge that guides towards just and wise actions, rather than that which leads astray. 2. **Goodly Provision (Rizqan Tayyiban'):** This encompasses not just material sustenance but also the provision of sound judgment, truthful information, and opportunities for positive engagement. It ensures that our efforts in international dealings are supported by legitimate and ethical means. 3. **Acceptable Deeds ('Amalan Mutaqabbalan'):** This is the ultimate goal – that our actions, whether diplomatic efforts, humanitarian aid, or personal advocacy, are accepted by Allah. This acceptance is crucial when dealing with matters that have far-reaching consequences, ensuring our intentions and actions align with divine pleasure. By asking for these three, we are essentially seeking Allah's help to act wisely, ethically, and effectively in all spheres, including the challenging arena of international relations.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say, after finishing the Fajr prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' In another narration, it is mentioned after the prayer (without specifying Fajr). (Sahih Muslim 7:65)
