Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Abu Musa that the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The similitude of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like a rain that fell on a fertile land. Some of it was good land, and it absorbed the water and produced much grass and herbs. Some of it was hard land, and it retained the water, so Allah made use of it for the people, and they drank of it and tilled it for irrigation. Some of it was barren land, and it neither retained water nor produced grass and herbs. That is the parable of him who has understood the religion of Allah and that which He has revealed to me, and he who teaches it to others. And the parable of him who does not turn his head to it and does not accept the guidance of Allah with which I have been sent.' (Later in the same hadith recording, the narrator states): It is related that when he (the Prophet ﷺ) spoke, he would often say: 'O Controller of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.'
