اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ، ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ، ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ، نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ، سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ، أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، أَوْ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجَلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي.
O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree concerning me is enacted. Your judgment of me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any one of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the reliever of my anxiety.
Allahumma inni 'abduk, ibnu 'abdik, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukumuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'alal-Qur'ana Rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jala'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ heard a man supplicating during prayer, saying: 'O Allah, I ask You, O Allah, the One who is unique, the Eternal Absolute, Who was not begotten and has been begotten, nor is there to Him any equality, Who was not begotten and has been begotten, nor is there to Him any equality, Who was not begotten and has been begotten, nor is there to Him any equality.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'He has certainly asked Allah by His Most Great Name, the one by which if He is asked, He gives, and if He is asked to grant, He grants.' Then another man supplicated, saying: 'O Allah, I ask You by virtue of my testifying that there is no god but You, the One who needs none, Who neither begot nor was begotten, nor is there to Him any equality.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'You have asked Allah by His Name, the one by which if He is asked, He gives, and if He is asked to grant, He grants.' Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed, there came to me the other night, from among the Jinn, a warning against the people of the grave, and lo, he was from among the Jinn, and he asked me for protection, and I sought refuge with Allah from him. Then he began to speak, and he said: "O Muhammad, I passed by your companions in the graveyard, and I heard them saying..."' (Then the hadith continues with a different narration about another supplication.) Later, in a narration concerning the man who was praying alone, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to him: 'Supplicate and seek from your Lord.' The man supplicated: 'O Allah, grant me the best of this world and the best of the Hereafter.' The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'You have asked Allah by His Most Great Name, the one by which if He is asked, He gives, and if He is asked to grant, He grants.' In another narration: A man entered the Masjid and prayed. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'Go back and pray, for verily you have not prayed.' He prayed again and came back. He said: 'Go back and pray, for verily you have not prayed.' He prayed again and came back. He said: 'Go back and pray, for verily you have not prayed.' Then the man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, by the One Who sent you with the Truth, I do not know how to pray better than this.'
