اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, assist me in remembering You, thanking You, and worshipping You in the best manner.

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik

When to Read

This profound dua is particularly relevant when you've made a promise or a vow and find yourself struggling to fulfill it. Whether it's a commitment to Allah, to another person, or even a personal goal, reciting this when you feel overwhelmed or tempted to falter can bring immense strength. Think of it as an internal check-in before you start that difficult task, or when the finish line feels too far away. Recite it when you need Allah's direct assistance to align your intentions with your actions.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart. Raise your hands if it feels natural, especially when you are feeling the weight of the promise. Focus on the meaning of each word: asking for help to remember Allah (even in the midst of your task), to be thankful for His blessings (which are essential for motivation), and to worship Him through your efforts (turning a duty into an act of devotion). Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible. Consistency is key; make it a habit when facing such challenges.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a comprehensive plea for divine assistance in all aspects of our relationship with Allah, which directly impacts our ability to keep our commitments. By asking to remember Allah, we are reminded of His constant presence, which can deter us from breaking promises. By asking to thank Him, we cultivate gratitude, which fuels perseverance. And by asking to worship Him in the best manner, we elevate our actions from mere tasks to acts of obedience and love. This holistic approach empowers us to fulfill our promises, knowing we are not alone. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself used to teach this dua to his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) as a vital part of their spiritual preparation. (Sunan Abu Dawud 1522)

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was lowering his voice and supplicating. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, 'What is this supplication, O Abu Bakr?' He replied, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am asking for good in this matter.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Verily, I said three times: O Allah, assist me in remembering You, thanking You, and worshipping You in the best manner.' Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, 'Indeed, O Messenger of Allah, I heard you say this in my supplication.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Yes, O Abu Bakr, it is good indeed.'
