Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is a comprehensive request for success. 'Beneficial knowledge' opens doors to understanding and wisdom, leading to better decisions. 'Good provisions' encompasses all forms of sustenance, both material and spiritual, that are pure and lawful. 'Accepted deeds' ensures that our efforts in worship and in our worldly pursuits are recognized and rewarded by Allah. Together, these three elements form the foundation of a successful and fulfilling life in this world and the Hereafter.

Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) started prayer, he would say: 'Glory be to You, O Allah, and Thine is the praise! Blessed is Your name, Your glory is great and Your majesty is sublime!' Then she said: 'When he bowed, he would say: Glory be to my Lord, the Almighty. When he raised his head from bowing, he would say: Allah hears him who praises Him. O our Lord, to Thee is the praise.' Then he would go down in prostration and say: Glory be to my Lord, the Most High. Then he would raise his head and say: 'O Allah, forgive me, have mercy upon me, guide me, restore me, and provide for me.' (The narrator said:) And he would say: 'O Allah, indeed I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity and self-sufficiency.' and in another narration: 'O Allah, I ask You for the guidance, piety, chastity and richness.' And at the end of the prayer, and when he had concluded the prayer: 'O Allah, forgive me my former and latter sins, what I concealed and what I made public, what I committed extravagance in, and what Thou art better aware of than I. Thou art al-Muqaddim and al-Mu'akhkhir. There is no god but Thou.' And he would supplicate with this: 'O Allah, I ask for a beneficial knowledge, a good provision and a deed that is accepted.'
